Mow Cop Castle is a Grade II Listed Folly located on a prominent outcrop on the Cheshire/Staffordshire boarder. The structure can be seen for miles around and relishes extensive view across the Cheshire Plain and beyond. The Folly is owned and managed by the National Trust.

Evans Building Consultancy were instructed by the Trust to initially assess any urgent works upon the structure and produce drawings and specifications of works for competitive tender for any immediate repairs to the structure.

A photographic survey was undertaken using a high level pole camera to establish the condition of the masonry.

A prominent crack upon one of the internal arch walls was identified as requiring urgent repairs as part of the survey. Structural reinforcement of the crack was carried out by using stainless steel helical bars. The crack was filled using a stone galleting technique and repointed in a lime based mortar.
